A life of Fishing

I grew up a mad keen fisherman. Inherited it from my Dad. He installed the passion at a very young age. Here are a few photos of our years together.

I’ve changed in recent years. No longer interested in catching as much as possible, filling up freezers. Fishing for me from now on is catch and cook. Maybe one or two feeds in the freezer.

The idea that we have to take everything possible is unsustainable: stupid human thinking. Dad and I always threw  the small ones back, way before government restrictions were introduced. But we always tried to fill the esky, and usually did, even two eskies.  What a waste. Most of that fish was given away: probably tons of fish over the years.

I’ve come to value life, all life, as of equal value. Humans are not more important than any other species, including plants. We need to appreciate, be grateful for any life we take.
