Innisfail is probably one of, if not the most attractive place to live on the East Coast of Australia. The lifestyle is steady, it has seen very little growth in population in many years. The locals like it like that, naturally.
I moved to Innisfail over 8 years ago because it offered everything I love to do. Only an hour and fifteen minutes from Cairns, the airport, the businesses. An hour to the Tablelands for camping or coffee, or milk straight from the cow. And most importantly, very close to the reef to catch a feed of quality fish.
And yet, I rarely need to go to Cairns. Innisfail has a KMart, Coles and Woolies, BCF, Bunnings, Harvey Norman and every breed of fast food for those who need it. It also has a great supply of local businesses: hardware, furniture and electrical, local produce, clothes, you name it. It’s all here. I only go to Cairns for the Airport or to visit someone in hospital. Innisfail also has a modern hospital.
